How to dust your radiator in 5 steps
31/10/2026

Between the panels and fins, dust builds up without you noticing. It can block the airflow and spread through the room when the heating comes back on. The easiest thing is to clean before the heating season.
What you need
- A vacuum cleaner with a narrow nozzle
- A long, thin brush
- A damp cloth and a little mild soap
- An old towel to put on the floor
The 5 steps
- Turn off the radiator and wait until it is cold.
- Protect the floor with the towel.
- Vacuum the top, the underside and the sides.
- Brush between the fins to loosen the remaining dust, then vacuum again.
- Wipe the surfaces with the damp cloth, then dry them.
Avoid abrasive products, which can damage the paint. If you have a fan under your radiator, unplug it and remove it while you clean.
