Standard fan or radiator fan: what's the difference?
31/10/2026

It seems logical: if warm air needs to circulate, why not put a standard fan in front of the radiator? It can stir the air, but the two devices weren't designed for the same job.
Position
A radiator fan sits directly underneath, as close as possible to the hot surfaces. Air is pushed through the radiator. A standard fan, on the other hand, stirs the air in the room and isn't aimed at those surfaces.
How it works
A standard fan is switched on and off by hand. Our kits start and stop automatically according to the radiator's temperature: they only run when the heating is on.
Space
A floor-standing fan takes up room and is noticeable. A radiator fan stays discreet under the radiator and installs without tools or drilling, using magnets or its feet.
In short
To cool a room in summer, keep your standard fan. To help your radiator spread its heat in winter, a model designed for the purpose will be better suited.
